Crocodiles 1

6 years - 12 years

"We have the skills; we just need time!"

We aren’t scared or unskilled. We have our fundamental swim skills but they just don’t always look “pretty”. We need someone to nurture us and help us figure out what isn’t coming naturally. We need the skills broken down and a little bit more time to practice. We will work hard at getting it right!
We work on, but are not limited to:

  • Safety skills, always!

  • Streamlining our bodies

  • Breath control

  • Effective & strong long leg kick

  • Finessing Backstroke

  • Finessing Bubble Breathe

  • Formal introduction to breaststroke kick

Crocodiles 2

6 years - 12 years

"We will rise to a challenge, so set us one!"

We start out working at a limited distance to ensure technique is hardwired correctly, and then we extend ourselves to go further.  We are continuing to finesse our bubble/breathe freestyle and backstroke and are making sure they are smooth, controlled and technically correct. We desperately want to do the next big thing but need to remember there is a process to it. We need to be challenged and kept busy or we lose interest.
We work on, but are not limited to:

  • Safety skills, always!

  • More controlled and refined execution of skills we learnt prior to this level

  • Introduction to bilateral breathing (one side at a time)

  • Breaststroke kick with breathing

  • Butterfly kick

  • Increasing our distance whilst maintaining our technique

  • Introduction to the pace clock

Crocodiles 3

6 years - 12 years

"We work hard, there is lots to new technique to learn here!"

Our class size has increased and we now need to be in charge of getting ourselves started each time we swim. Our starts are streamlined off the wall and we finish each lap properly. We are swimming the whole length of the pool for freestyle and backstroke. Our distance for breaststroke and butterfly kick is increasing too. We learn breaststroke arms and legs separately.
We work on, but are not limited to:

  • Safety skills, always!

  • More controlled and refined execution of skills we learnt prior to this level

  • Bilateral freestyle

  • Backstroke technique with flag count

  • Introduction to breaststroke arms with breathing

  • Butterfly kick and pattern of arms “l i t”

  • Increasing our distance whilst maintaining technique

  • Introduction to tumble turns

Crocodiles 4

6 years - 12 years

"With the right support we will have the skills down pat in no time!"

We are competent at freestyle and backstroke, we never stop finessing it though, and there is always room to make improvements. We are focussed on developing our breaststroke and butterfly technique. We learn the arms, legs and breathing individually before putting it together, just like when we were little, it can look messy before we get it. Tumble turns are getting us ready for longer distances in squad.
We work on, but are not limited to:

  • Safety skills, always!

  • More controlled and refined execution of skills we learnt prior to this level

  • Bilateral Freestyle with high elbow recovery

  • Backstroke technique with flag count

  • Putting Breaststroke together

  • Butterfly arms “l i t” with breathing

  • Putting Butterfly together

  • Tumble turns

  • Building stamina & distance whilst maintaining technique

Sailfish

8 years - 12 years

Invitation only

Our Sailfish Program is for those children who have gained competence in all strokes, and completed our Crocodile 4 learn-to-swim level, and who are now looking towards building into competitive swimming. These swimmers will work with our squad teacher to learn some of the skills they need to participate in an entry-level squad program through a swim club, and build stamina, technique and understanding of the rules of competitive swimming.

Our Sailfish swimmers swim for 60 minutes a week, and operate Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings after our regular learn-to-swim classes finish.
